A quick disclaimer on shelter materials: When purchasing tents and sleeping bags there will be a 3 or 4-season rating, 4-season is gear that is better equipped for winter and high wind conditions, also the temp ratings you see on sleeping gear will mean that you won't freeze when it gets down to that temperature not that you will necessarily be comfortable. I recommend getting a sleeping bag designed for 10-20 colder weather than you anticipate encountering.
