Shelter
A quick disclaimer on shelter materials: When purchasing tents and sleeping bags there will be a 3 or 4-season rating, 4-season is gear that is better equipped for winter and high wind conditions, also the temp ratings you see on sleeping gear will mean that you won't freeze when it gets down to that temperature not that you will necessarily be comfortable. I recommend getting a sleeping bag designed for 10-20 colder weather than you anticipate encountering.
Tarp and/or Tent: Consider the durable and lightweight MSR Hubba Hubba NX Tent or a versatile tarp like the Aqua Quest Defender Tarp.
Paracord or Rope: Opt for strong and reliable options like the TOUGH-GRID 550lb Paracord or the SGT KNOTS Polypropylene Rope.
Sleeping Bag and Sleeping Pad: Kelty Cosmic 20 and Nemo Tensor sleeping pad will keep you warm and comfortable.
Firecraft Tools
Firestarter: Choose the reliable and compact Gerber Bear Grylls Fire Starter or the Bayite 4" Ferro Rod.
Tinder Material: Pack cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly or carry Fatwood sticks for efficient fire ignition.

Foraging Guide: Carry pocket guides like "Peterson Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants" I would definitely recommend getting a foraging guide specific to the area you plan on camping in.

Collapsible Water Container: Opt for durable and collapsible containers such as the CNOC Water Bag or the Hydrapak Seeker.
